Poker has always been the thinking person's game — part strategy, part psychology, part nerve. At AZ Jili, we've built a poker experience that's tailor-made for Filipino players: familiar payment options, Philippine peso stakes, live dealer tables, and multiple game variants to keep things interesting. Whether you're a casual player or a serious grinder, there's a seat at the table for you.
Why Poker?
Unlike pure luck games, Poker rewards players who study, think, and read the situation well. That's what makes it so popular among Filipinos who want more than just spinning reels or rolling dice. When you play Poker at AZ Jili, you're competing against real strategy — whether it's against other players at a live table or the dealer in a casino-style format.
The most popular variant worldwide — and at AZ Jili — is Texas Hold'em. It's the game you see on TV, in movies, and in the big tournament circuits. But it's also genuinely accessible for beginners once you understand the basics. Two hole cards, five community cards, and the best five-card hand wins. Simple to learn, a lifetime to master — as the saying goes.
What separates a winning Poker player from a losing one isn't pure luck over the long run — it's decision-making. Knowing when to fold a weak hand, when to raise aggressively, and when to call a bluff are all skills you can develop. At AZ Jili, we want every Filipino player to have the information they need to play smarter, not just harder. This page covers everything from hand rankings to live table strategy.
Choose Your Game
Not all poker games play the same. Here's what you'll find in the AZ Jili poker lobby, from the classic to the fast-paced.
The world's most popular poker format. Two private hole cards, five community cards (flop, turn, river). Best five-card hand takes the pot. Available in cash game and tournament formats.
Most PopularSimilar to Texas Hold'em but each player receives four hole cards and must use exactly two of them. More possible hand combinations means bigger action and bigger pots.
Action-PackedA faster, casino-style poker format where you're dealt three cards and compete against the dealer's hand. Great for players who want quick rounds without waiting for community cards.
Fast RoundsFive-card poker played against the dealer. Known for its progressive jackpot side bet — hit a royal flush and you could walk away with a life-changing prize.
Progressive JackpotPlay at a real table streamed in HD with a professional dealer. Chat with the dealer and other players in real time. The closest you can get to a casino floor without leaving home.
Live ExperienceScheduled multi-table tournaments with fixed buy-ins and escalating blind structures. A set entry fee gives you a shot at a prize pool much larger than your investment.
Big PrizesKnow Before You Play
Before you sit at any poker table on AZ Jili, you need to know which hands beat which. Memorizing this list is the single most important step for any new player. It takes maybe ten minutes to learn and will stay with you forever.
The hierarchy below applies to Texas Hold'em and most standard poker variants. In some games like Hi-Lo, the lowest hand can also win — but for now, focus on this standard ranking. The Royal Flush is the king of all hands; High Card is the weakest — but sometimes, that's all you need to take down a pot if you play it right.
One important note: suit (spades, hearts, clubs, diamonds) does not determine a hand's strength in standard poker. Two flushes in different suits of the same rank are treated as equal. What matters is the face value of the cards.
Texas Hold'em Flow
Each hand of Texas Hold'em at AZ Jili goes through four distinct betting rounds. Understanding this flow is essential before you sit down at a real-money table. Here's the full sequence from deal to showdown:
| Round | What Happens | Cards Visible |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-Flop | Each player receives 2 hole cards. Blinds are posted. First round of betting starts left of the big blind. | 2 hole cards only |
| Flop | Three community cards are dealt face-up. Second round of betting begins with the first active player left of the dealer. | 5 total (2 hole + 3 community) |
| Turn | A fourth community card is revealed. Another betting round. Pot sizes often grow significantly here. | 6 total (2 hole + 4 community) |
| River | The fifth and final community card is dealt. Last betting round before showdown. Time to commit or fold. | 7 total (2 hole + 5 community) |
| Showdown | Remaining players reveal cards. Best five-card hand from any combination of 7 cards wins the pot. | All 7 cards evaluated |
Play Smarter
These aren't magic tricks or guaranteed systems. They're the kind of foundational habits that separate players who consistently do well from those who just get lucky once in a while.
Beginners often play too many hands. In Texas Hold'em, folding before the flop on weak hole cards (like 7-2 offsuit) is the right move the vast majority of the time. Patience is a genuine skill in poker.
Acting last in a betting round (being "in position") is a significant advantage. You get to see what everyone else does before deciding. When you have position, you can play more hands profitably.
Pot odds compare the current pot size to the cost of your call. If the pot contains ₱500 and calling costs ₱50, you're getting 10-to-1 odds. If your hand wins more than 10% of the time, the call is profitable long-term.
Bluffing works best when there's a believable story behind your betting. Random bluffs against multiple players, or bluffing calling stations who never fold, is just throwing money away. Bluff with purpose.
A general rule: keep your buy-in to no more than 5% of your total poker bankroll at any one table. This protects you from going broke due to short-term bad luck, even if you're playing well overall.
"Tilt" — playing emotionally after a bad beat — is one of the biggest bankroll killers in poker. If you feel frustrated or angry after losing a big pot, step away from the table. No shame sa pag-log out muna.
